Welcome to Indie Pickin’s, a bi-weekly feature which will focus on one indie game I discover or you readers suggest. I will also be giving away a copy of the featured game each time too. They may not all be fantastic games to me but that won’t stop me from featuring it because someone out there may like it. Some of the games may even still be in alpha or beta but it doesn’t stop it from getting focused on. My write up will have a summary of the developer and a short review of what I thought about the game and have any links you’d need to dig deeper into the game if interested. So hope you enjoy, enter the giveaway, and comment with some feedback on what you liked or maybe what you’d like to see in the future.
Out There Somewhere – @studioMiniBoss
Out There Somewhere was created by MiniBoss. They are made up of five friends and one demon cat who love to make games in their free time and are based in Campinas, Brazil. They have also had some other collaborators help them out with some things. You can check out their site to find out even more about them and have some fun with some of the other games they’ve created which you can download for free.
Out There Somewhere is a puzzle-platforming game about an astronaut who gets forced to land on an unknown planet after fighting with his arch-enemy Grigori. While you’re on the planet you need to find a power core to get your ship moving again and get your revenge. This is where the cool gameplay comes in by using a teleportation gun to go through walls, zip over lava pits, or climb to higher levels. When you shoot the gun it will teleport you to wherever it hits a solid object. Some objects like different colored lasers or walls react differently to your gun so be prepared to use your brain with this game, well at least I had to ;). You can also find another gun that will let you kill enemies or destroy blocks.
It was a fun challenge trying to figure out how to maneuver through or around the levels to get to your destination. The game is somewhat short, beat it in about 2 hours, but that doesn’t take away from the fun you will have playing this. Check out the trailer below and if you like what you see you can buy it on Desura and vote for it on Steam Greenlight.
